The Role
Responsible for purchasing highly complex or unusual, technical or high dollar value materials, supplies or services. Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers and negotiates price, quality and service. Follows up on all awards until completion of order. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering change orders. Oversees and/or conducts supplier site visits as necessary. May provide work leadership for lower level employees. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities.
This position is located in Washington State at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and is contingent upon contract award, ability to obtain or transfer an active DoD Secret Clearance, and successful completion of HII’s post-offer background and drug screening.
Must Have
Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate’s Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
