The opportunity

Actavis Laboratories FL, Inc seeks a Statistical Engineer Sr. (Davie, FL) to be responsible for creating and applying statistical methods and models to analyze and interpret product and process data to aid in product and processes improvement and decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain the site’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for statistical analysis and establishing statistical report template.
  • Process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis, using computers.
  • Use data mining method, extract usable data from a large set of historical results, clean, validate the data, and analyze data patterns and connections.
  • Perform inferential analysis including but not limited to control limits, confidence limits, tolerance limits and prediction limits, establish bases for determination of alert and action limits.
  • Evaluate variation due to common causes and special causes to determine the root causes for aberrant and out-of-specification results.
  • Provide statistical methods and models for determination of specifications, sampling and testing methodologies and inspection sampling.
  • Provide expertise of various statistical approaches and innovative thinking to analyze analytical data for determination and filing of specification limits, internal alert limits, removing and reducing intermediate testing, and testing methodologies.
  • Design and develop sampling plan and techniques, including applying sampling plan methodology for variables and attributes to identify the required sample sizes and acceptance criteria.
  • Assist in the evaluation of key quality trends.
  • Identify relationships and trends in data, as well as any factors that could affect the results of research.
  • Apply statistical methods such as Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA), Variance Component Analysis (VCA) to identify variabilities and assignable causes.
  • Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information.
  • Carry out statistical analysis on Annual Continuous Process Verification (CPV) and Launch Risk Assessment.
  • Prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for inaccuracies, and adjusting and weighting the raw data.
  • Assume responsibility for the production and accuracy of the statistical analysis and interpretation of the statistical analysis results.
  • Report results of statistical analyses and indicate observations of statistical significant trend or risk of failure observations.
  • Examine theories, such as those of probability and inference, to discover mathematical bases for new or improved methods of obtaining and evaluating numerical data.
  • Develop statistical sampling and analysis for blend uniformity and stratified sampling assessment to meet ASTM E2810 requirements.
  • Maintain work areas and perform job functions in accordance with company policies and procedures and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). 

Your experience and qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Statistics or a related field.
  • Plus 5 years of experience in a related occupation including Statistical Engineer, Statistician, or related experience.
  • Position requires 5 years of experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Statistical Analysis (MSA), and cGMP. 40hrs/week.
