Job Summary
Raytheon’s Radar Field Engineering team is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Fullerton, CA team. In this role you will be responsible for supporting Sentinel Radar operations, maintenance, installation, testing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities at the Battlefield Radar Fullerton Test Site and other locations as required.
Sentinel is the primary air defense radar for the US Army and the Life Cycle Contractor Support (LCCS) contract as well as part of the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) suite in support of several foreign customers. The Fullerton Test Site includes a Power Amplifier Module (PAM) Lab that supports rework of PAMs and their return to service for the US Army and various foreign customers.
This position will be an Onsite role in Fullerton, CA.
Travel to customer sites both CONUS and OCONUS will be required on an occasional basis.
Responsibilities to Anticipate
- Support development of evaluation tests to verify system functionality and interoperability in an indoor and outdoor environment.
- Evaluation of system performance and documenting results in support of proposed system upgrades / enhancements.
- Resolve problems in X-band power amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, and exciters.
- Support development of acceptance test procedures for Improved Sentinel systems.
- Integration and testing of prototype hardware and updated system operational software to identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design to responsible engineers or designers.
Basic Qualification
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior engineering experience.
- Experience with basic test equipment: multimeter, oscilloscope, power meter.
- Experience documenting troubleshooting, repair, final test results, laboratory configuration and system testing activities of lab work.
- Experience preparing and retaining documentation of laboratory work as well as coordination for quality review (as applicable).
- Comprehension of engineering knowledge to analyze failure symptoms and employing quality assurance / control methods to determine failure.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Desired Skills
- Experience working on X-band amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, and exciters.
- Experience providing maintenance or operational training.
- Comprehension of radar systems operations and/or maintenance, in particular Firefinder or Sentinel radars.
- Comprehension of Military protocol to include operational and tactical procedures associated with Air Defense Systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Special Work Circumstances:
- Willingness to travel on occasion to support program efforts whose duration may be more than 1 month.
- Ability to support a two-person lift of 75 lbs.

The salary range for this role is 68,000 USD – 136,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
