Job Description
The successful candidate will join the ‘PRism’ group of data scientist/statisticians within corporate functions R&D at P&G. The candidate will be part of an expert group of consumer statisticians who partner with products researchers across P&G’s business units in design and analysis of elite consumer research and modeling capabilities.
This position works closely with our Business Unit (BU) partners, identifying ground breaking consumer modeling and statistical methods to solve sophisticated business problems and enable consumer understanding to develop new product innovation in a sophisticated, constantly evolving world.
The candidate will support one or more P&G business units to provide the following types of consumer statistics, modeling and data science capabilities:
- Experienced statistical support for consumer research test design & analysis
- Consumer/market/product segmentation analysis
- Claim support / claim strategies
- Leverage methodologies to integrate multiple types and sources of data
- Innovate and advance department capabilities in consumer research methods
- Communication of results and development of ongoing strategies
- Development of automated analysis tools, education materials, and training for non-statisticians
Build new algorithms and models to measure the impact of product, package, commercial and other innovation choices on consumer preferences and purchase decisions to guide investment choices. Enable better decision-making through data coupled with the development and application of sophisticated analytics and algorithms to derive actionable insights, and then translate those insights into actions that improve business results. Actively research outstanding methodologies, such as demonstrating ideas from structural equation models or Bayesian believe network, discrete choice models, and empirical game theory. Be imaginative and creative with an eagerness to supervise and give to the latest developments in modeling and to envision application possibilities of new technologies in data science & machine learning.
The individual must have a consistent track record of technical problem-solving skills, experience with relevant methods, software, and ability to bring forward the state-of-the art statistical tools and approaches. The individual’s ability to condense sophisticated information and complex data analysis into simpler models will be a critical aspect of consideration along with the ability to work in teams where statistical experience may be widely variable.
This position also requires effective collaboration and communication skills with multifunctional teams, ability to explain sophisticated statistical concepts to non-experts, and collaboration with a multitude of diverse subject matter experts.
Job Qualifications
- PhD in Statistics with strong focus in Marketing Analytics, Economics, Quantitative Behavioral Sciences or other quantitative subject areas
- Practical hands-on experience in methodology
- Multivariate analysis such as clustering, factor analysis, discriminant analysis and multiple correspondence analysis
- Study design for parallel and pair test and sample size estimation
- Discrete choice/forced choice designs (Conjoint and MaxDiff)
- Random effects mixed models for crossover studies
- Correlated regression techniques
- Experience in using various Statistical/Data Science software packages (ex.R, SAS, Python, JMP).
- Strong communication skills
