Overview:
WCBS-TV, the #1 station in the Paramount-owned group of television stations, is looking for a collaborative leader to manage the nerve center of news gathering as Assignment Manager. This person must be an expert journalist with a deep understanding of the tri-state area and the diverse group of people who call it home.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the assignment desk, including scheduling and training of incoming team
- Coordinate and run morning editorial meeting
- Delegate responsibility to improve assignment desk resources
- Must be aggressive with breaking news coverage while also finding opportunities to differentiate the coverage with focused, angled stories that include diverse perspectives
- Must advocate for our streaming platform by regularly communicating with the team and developing robust breaking news coverage that goes beyond our traditional channels
- Collaborate with news partners to gather and share content
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years as an assignment editor or assignment manager

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $130,000.00 – 166,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
