This position requires a highly skilled and experienced technician to perform a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of DC power systems. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the DC power industry and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Install batteries, rectifier battery plants, ironwork, and cable racks.
- Upgrade and replace DC power plants and primary/secondary distribution equipment.
- Run power cables, crimp lugs, and perform lacing.
- Take voltage and gravity readings, perform load tests, and diagnose equipment and systems.
- Prepare test reports, author technical documentation, and complete job-related paperwork.
- Read, understand, and follow industry standards, specifications, and schematics.
- Interface effectively with customers.
- Lead a team of technicians, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and jobsites, identifying potential hazards.
- Travel to different work locations, potentially including remote or primitive environments.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the electrical field with a strong understanding of electrical codes, life safety codes, NFPA, UBC, and lighting systems (where applicable).
- Knowledge of industry standards, such as Telcordia, IP72202, TP76300, and 77350.
- Understanding of lead-acid battery operation.
- Excellent communication, writing, and math skills.
- Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office and customer software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
- Strong mechanical and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass drug tests, and maintain a clean background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects (up to 150 lbs with assistance).
- Strength and dexterity to perform various physical tasks, such as bending, squatting, crawling, and climbing.
- Must be able to work from heights and in confined spaces.
- DOT Medical Qualification Card required.
Travel:
- Ability to travel frequently to customer sites, including remote and outdoors locations.
- Travel required = 50% of the time (Frequent travel required, including driving, flying, overnight stays)
- Travel expenses will be covered on company’s behalf.
