A Brief Overview
The Manager, Learning and Development role will successfully lead a team of Talent Management Learning & Development professionals, directing the teams’ performance and deliverables based on volume and level of expertise required to meet business objectives and timelines. This role works closely with leadership regarding the learning experience of new hires/acclimation to role, the development and delivery of cyclical and business-related projects and the scheduling of training and development initiatives company wide. The Manager, L&D will possess skills to assist with the analysis, development, delivery, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) of technology-enabled learning products and instructional courses, materials, and resources. The Manager, L&D will ensure work is balanced across the team to optimize productivity, deployment, and ROI. This leadership position provides for the management and development of colleagues, career mentoring, and driving organizational performance through colleague development and engagement.

What you will do

  • Assess needs and develop content in-line with current methodology, skills, and approach, while making recommendations and consulting with Stakeholders to incorporate the most effective design/delivery method to achieve training transfer
  • Design, develop and deliver strategies to help achieve department, company, and customer goals and objectives
  • Prepare detailed project plans defining objectives, business requirements, responsibilities of assigned staff, timeline and expected results
  • Support of cross functional design of materials (e-learning, virtual, in person) through the creation of participant & facilitator guides, purposeful presentations, learning program development including assessments/evaluations allowing for enhanced productivity via AGILE methodology
  • Build and maintain effective business relationships with Leaders, SMEs, and teams throughout the organization
  • Confer with leadership and SMEs to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies
  • Coordination, development, and administration of pre- and post-training activities, including testing, certification and mentor/reinforcement efforts in support of development – level 2 return on investment (ROI)
  • Coordination, execution and tracking of project and program results, impact and outcomes and reporting successes/ risks/challenges and metrics on a regular basis
  • Manage directs to ensure training plans and schedules are accurately defined to meet specific project needs as well as forecasting needs for staffing and planning
  • Ensure consistency is driven across all business units regarding processes and procedures and measurement of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Partner with Recruiting, Talent Management and Leaders to improve the onboarding experience and acclimation to role
  • Identify training or process improvement opportunities and provide recommendations, conduct consultative conversations with Stakeholders and business units
  • Support best practice theory regarding systems and processes, ensuring high quality service delivery while maintaining compliance with all TriNet policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulations
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 5+ years instructional design, learning and development, program management and/or other related experience in a corporate setting required and
  • Typically 3+ years experience leading large scale projects end to end required
  • Typically 3+ years leading a learning and development team/function/people management required
  • Experience working in an HR Outsourcing/PEO environment preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong people management, analytical, interviewing, research, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Proven expertise using instructional methods and training techniques, including curriculum design principles and blended learning strategies
  • Proven ability to partner and collaborate with others at all levels within the organization, including senior leaders, managers, employees, and external resources
  • Positive change agent for the organization – positive outlook towards the future, self-motivated, encourages others, enthusiastic and willing to take risks
  • Fosters a learning culture within the team focused on coaching, regular feedback, accountability, and development that energizes colleagues.

  • A demonstrated commitment to professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Proficient with Articulate Storyline/Rise, Camtasia and/or other content authoring tools preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Licenses and Certifications

  • ATD, DDI, PHR, PMP, SHRM certifications preferred Upon Hire preferred

The salary range for this role is $83,000 – $149,400. The candidate’s final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience.

A candidate’s compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
