Boeing Global Services (BGS) is hiring a Mid-Level Modeling and Simulation Engineer for our Seattle, WA location.
The Modeling & Simulation Engineer serves as a member of Boeing Global Services’ Logistics Simulation and Analysis Suite (LSAS) team; and will focus on translating customer supply chain and logistics processes into representative models using a collection of both custom and commercial Discrete Event Simulation (DES) tools. These models are used to simulate a variety of customer scenarios, and enable decision makers in Boeing Programs and in various branches of Government/Military, to make informed decisions around proposals, strategy, and mission planning.

This role will focus on:
- Translating customer supply chain and logistics processes into representative models
- Creation of models used to simulate scenarios
- Production of reports and dashboards used to inform decisions
- Coordination of data with other teams and programs
- Manipulation of existing local models to general use
Position Responsibilities:
- Communicate with stakeholders and customers to understand and shape requirements
- Design and develop logistic models, key performance indicators, and data sets
- Derive logic and embed within broader logistical models
- Document customer requirements
- Document model designs
- Validate and Verify model results
- Develop & manage data ingest and ETL processes
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
- Bachelors degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 3+ years of experience with Engineering & Systems Support Analysis
- 1+ years of experience performing logistics modeling & analysis
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
- 3+ years software development experience
- Experience with C++, Python and Java or similar
- 1+ years of experience with real-time/near real-time simulations packages and development or similar.
- 1+ years of experience with ExtendSim or similar
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
