Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Early Development is looking for a strong scientific leader in the Obesity therapeutic area. In this vital role you will be responsible for providing scientific and medical direction and leadership for pre-clinical/early clinical programs for Amgen’s Early Development Obesity pipeline. This Early Development Asset Leader for Obesity will develop strategy for and oversee the early phase clinical development of compounds in the Obesity therapeutic area from first-in-man studies through proof of concept and translational projects as part of the initial drug development strategy. This role serves as an Early Asset Lead for the Obesity pipeline.
- Provide clinical and biological insights into the Obesity/Obesity Related Conditions strategy, and specifically how to best support that strategy within Early Development studies
- Mentor Medical Directors/Early Development Leaders to ensure best practices for study design and execution in support of overarching strategy for Obesity assets
- Partner with colleagues in Research, Precision Medicine, Global Development as well as other functions across the organization to ensure alignment of goals and effective advancement of Obesity programs
- Participate in evaluation of business development opportunities
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
AND
5 years of clinical research and/or basic science research experience
AND
5 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
- MD, PhD with clinical training/expertise in metabolic diseases, e.g., subspecialty training in endocrinology
- 5 years of clinical trial /drug development experience in obesity and/or related areas with the majority of that experience within an industry setting
- strong understanding of the biology of obesity and related conditions.

Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
